TYPES OF CARBOHYDRATES:

- Complex Carbohydrates (Starches and Fiber): Complex carbs are made up of starches and fiber. Because of their structure, your body takes longer to break down complex carbs. This means the energy they provide is released slowly and steadily, instead of giving you a quick rush and then a crash like simple carbohydrates do.Starches: Found in grains (rice, bread, pasta), potatoes, and legumes.Fiber: Found in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes.

But fats do much more than just provide energy. They're essential for many important bodily functions. Think of fats as building blocks and helpers for your body.
There are several different types of fats, and it's important to understand the difference:
- Unsaturated Fats (The "Good" Fats): These are the fats you want to focus on. They're generally considered beneficial for your health, especially for your heart.Monounsaturated Fats: Found in foods like olive oil, avocados, nuts (like almonds and cashews), and seeds.Polyunsaturated Fats: Found in fatty fish (like salmon, tuna, and mackerel), flaxseeds, walnuts, and sunflower seeds. This group includes important fats called Omega-3 and Omega-6 fatty acids, which your body can't make on its own, so you must get them from your diet.
- Saturated Fats: These fats are found in animal products like meat and dairy, as well as some plant oils like coconut oil and palm oil. It's best to limit your intake of saturated fats.Trans Fats (The "Bad" Fats): These are mostly found in processed foods that contain something called "partially hydrogenated oils." Trans fats are very unhealthy and should be avoided as much as possible. They're strongly linked to heart disease.
